Departing Christchurch, your passionate driver guide will bring your journey to life, sharing stories and rich background knowledge. Travel through the impressive Canterbury plains farmland to the quaint township of Geraldine. Continue through some impressive alpine passes to the famous blue lakes of Lake Tekapo, stopping at the very popular Church of the Good Shepherd, before heading on to a vast landscape of ice and rock that surround Aoraki Mt Cook. Depart Mt Cook Village framed by the dramatic backdrop of Aoraki Mt Cook and the Southern Alps travelling alongside Lake Pukaki, one of the bluest lakes you will ever see. Your small group guided transfer includes a stop at a local salmon farm and fresh fruit stall (seasonal) passing through the stunning Kawarau Gorge before arriving in Queenstown. Today's stunning tour takes you past mirror lakes and waterfalls into Milford Sound, carved by ice age glaciers and famously described as the eighth wonder of the world. On arrival, board your vessel for a cruise of the fiord surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs that plunge into the sea. Feel the refreshing spray of a waterfall as you cruise close to sheer rock faces before returning to shore. Pass through the stunning Kawarau Gorge, fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell, following beautiful Lake Dunstan and through the dramatic Lindis Pass. Travel the vast plains of the Mackenzie district alongside magnificent turquoise blue lake framed by Aoraki Mt Cook and the spectacular Southern Alps. Make a short stop at Mt Cook Village before returning to Christchurch. Duration: approx. 13 hours. Overnight in Christchurch.
