Upon arrival at Calicut Airport, pick up the group and then proceed to local sightseeing to visit Kappad Beach, Pazhassi Raja Museum etc. Later proceed to Bekal (170 km / 4 hrs). Upon arrival at Bekal, check into hotel.
After breakfast, check out from hotel and then visit Bekal Fort, Bekal Beach, Chandragiri Fort etc. After lunch proceed to Nileshwar (23 km / ½ Hr). Upon arrival, check into house boat. Enjoy Backwater Cruise.
After breakfast proceed to Wayanad, one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. The drive itself is a unique experience, as you pass through a number of hair pin bends and turns, in the famous Thamarassery Mountain Pass, while enjoying the landscape. Checkin to the hotel.
Wayanad -the natural beauty, heritage and history will enthrall you as you visit places like Edakkal caves, Pookot Lake, and Muthanga wildlife safari. Tea estates and coffee plantations spread over the green mountains enroute to these destinations will be a feast to your eyes.
Check out the hotel and proceed back to Calicut. Transfer to Calicut Airport I Railway Station, to board the return flight / train for destination. Tour Concludes with wonderful memories of Malabar.
Bekal is a small town in the Kasaragod district on the West coast of the state of Kerala, India. There are several attractions in the area: the giant keyhole shaped Bekal Fort, the golden expanse of a beautiful beach surrounding the fort, backwaters and hill destinations and the water sport facilities nearby. This is where the song, "Uyire" was shot from Mani Ratnam film- 'Bombay' was filmed. Kasaragod is a beautiful town poised at the Northern extreme of Kerala 16 km south of the town on the National Highway, is the largest and best preserved fort in the whole of Kerala, bordered by a splendid beach. Shaped like a giant keyhole, the historic Bekal Fort offers a superb view of the Arabian Sea from its tall observation towers, which had huge cannons a couple centuries ago.[2] The state of Kerala is reviewing a plan to start seaplane services connecting Bekal with Kollam Ashtamudi, Kumarakom, Punnamada and famous Paravur backwaters.
Wayanad in the north-east of Kerala was formed on November 1, 1980 as the 12th district by carving out areas from Kozhikode and Kannur. The region was known as Mayakshetra in the earliest records, evolved into Mayanad and finally to Wayanad. The Folk etymology of the word says it is a combination of Vayal and Naad, creation of 'The Land of Paddy Fields'. There are many indigenous tribals in this as it is set high on the majestic Western Ghats. Wayanad is well connected by road to various parts of Kerala and the nearest railway station is at Kozhikode, 75 km from Kalpetta.
Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, is a city in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is the third largest city in Kerala and the headquarters of Kozhikode district. Kozhikode has a long and illustrious history—one of resplendent trade, poignant invasions and liberation struggles. It was dubbed the "City of Spices" for its role as the major trading point of eastern spices[1] during the Middle ages and probably as early as Classical antiquity. Kozhikode was once the capital of an independent kingdom by the same name and later of the erstwhile Malabar District.
Nileshwaram or Nileshwar is a municipality and a major town in Kasaragod District, state of Kerala, India. It is one of the three municipalities of Kasaragod district; the others are Kasaragod and Kanhangad. Kerala's first Chief Minister E. M. S. Namboodiripad was elected from Nileshwaram. Nileshwar is the one of the major cities in Kasaragod district.
