Chandigarh to Manali (Approx 310 KM/10 hrs)

After arrival at Chandigarh airport you will proceed by road to Manali a picture-perfect hill resort. Set amidst pine-clad mountains, which gradually close in on both sides of the Beas and nestling in their shade, as though carved out of primeval forest, is a scattered hamlet, which comprises this picturesque resort. Arrive & check in at pre-booked hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight stay in Manali. (1929 m) via Kullu (274 kms; 8 hrs)

Manali Local sightseeing

This morning you may take a Local tour of Manali, visiting the 450 years old temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, which has some excellent woodcarving. You also visit the Tibetan Monastery, Van Viharika, Mall Road. The rest of the day at leisure or walk to the nearby picturesque village of Vashisht known for its hot sulphur springs. Overnight stay in Manali.

Manali - Rohtang / Snow Point with Solang Valley

After breakfast check out from hotel and tour of Rohtang Pass (you can go rohtang on the direct payment base and special permission). The majesty of the mountains and the glaciers can be seen at their best; you have next two hours to enjoy this snowy haven. Take a sledge ride down the slopes, try your luck climbing the little snow hills. On your descents to Manali, halt at the Rahalla falls and Solang Valley. The Magnificent views and natural beauty are a never-ending source of delight. Evening free time for shopping. Overnight stay in Manali.

In the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to Dharamshala.     Manali in the Beas River Valley is a beautiful hill station nestled in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is located about 270 km north of the state capital, Shimla with a population of approx. 30,000. The small town is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand. Manali and the surrounding area are of great significance to Indian culture and heritage as it is said to be the home of the Seven Sages. Tourism is the most significant segment of the town's economy as tourist attractions of this hill station includes Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and adventure sports.

    Rohtang Pass, pile of corpses, due to people dying in bad weather trying to cross the pass is a high mountain pass on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas around 51 km (32 mi) from Manali. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The pass provides a natural divide between the Kullu Valley with a primarily Hindu culture and the Lahaul - Spiti valleys with a Buddhist culture that exist in the north. The pass lies on the watershed between the Chenab and Beas basins and on the southern side of this pass, the Beas River emerges from underground and flows southward. The Chandra River, a source stream of the river Chenab, flows westward.

    Dharamshala is a city in the upper reaches of the Kangra Valley, surrounded by dense coniferous forest, mainly of stately Deodars. The suburbs of the town include McLeodGanj, Bhagsunath, Dharamkot, Naddi, ForsythGanj, Kotwali Bazaar, Kaccheri Adda, Dari, Ramnagar, Sidhpur and Sidhbari. The village of McLeodGanj lying in the upper reaches is known worldwide for Tenzin Gyatso.     Dalhousie, a hill station in Himachal Pradesh was named after Lord Dalhousie who was the British Governor-General in India while establishing this place as a summer retreat. Dalhousie was established in 1854 by the British Empire in India as a summer retreat for its troops and bureaucrats.The place is built on and around five hills on the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas. The peak tourist season for Dalhousie is from May to September, which is a gateway to the ancient Chamba Hill State, now Chamba District.

    Amritsar is the spiritual center for the Sikh religion in the state of Punjab. It is home to the Harmandir Sahib, also referred to as the "Golden Temple" as the spiritual and cultural center for the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal on week days alone. The city also houses the Sikh temporal and political authority, Akal Takht. Amritsar is situated 217 kilometres northwest of state capital Chandigarh and is very close to India's western border with Pakistan. The main commercial activities include tourism, carpets and fabrics, farm produce, handicrafts, and light engineering. The city is known for its rich cuisine and culture and also for the tragic incident of Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919.
