We start a scenic tour today of Dalhousie (200 kms./5 hrs.), Dalhousie, a famous tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, so much so, that he stayed here for many months in 1937. Today, he has two places named after him - Subhash Baoli and Subhash Chowk. The hill station has the same effect on tourists today, with its waterfalls, rivers making their way through mountains, dense forest trails that run parallel to enormous cliffs with grand views of Dauladhar range in the distance and a couple of churches that were built during the British Raj. Cafes, markets, Mall Road, those are equally convincing reasons to plan a trip to Dalhousie. Arrive Dalhousie and check into the Hotel. Overnight stay.

Dalhousie, a hill station in Himachal Pradesh was named after Lord Dalhousie who was the British Governor-General in India while establishing this place as a summer retreat. Dalhousie was established in 1854 by the British Empire in India as a summer retreat for its troops and bureaucrats.The place is built on and around five hills on the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas. The peak tourist season for Dalhousie is from May to September, which is a gateway to the ancient Chamba Hill State, now Chamba District.
Dharamshala is a city in the upper reaches of the Kangra Valley, surrounded by dense coniferous forest, mainly of stately Deodars. The suburbs of the town include McLeodGanj, Bhagsunath, Dharamkot, Naddi, ForsythGanj, Kotwali Bazaar, Kaccheri Adda, Dari, Ramnagar, Sidhpur and Sidhbari. The village of McLeodGanj lying in the upper reaches is known worldwide for Tenzin Gyatso. In 1959, the 14th Dalai Lama established the Tibetan exile administration in the north Indian hill station of Mussoorie and in May 1960, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) was moved to Dharamshala. From 1959, an influx of Tibetan refugees has made Dharamshala a popular destination for Indian and foreign tourists.
Chandigarh serves as the capital to two states, Haryana and Punjab. The name Chandigarh translates as "The Fort of Chandi", which is derived from an ancient temple called Chandi Mandir, devoted to the Hindu goddess Chandi. It is also referred to as The City Beautiful due to its beautiful surroundings, central grid of gardens and different species of flora.The city of Chandigarh was the first planned city in India post independence and is known internationally for its architecture and urban design. Khajjiar is a hill station, near the town of Chamba in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, India, located approximately 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Dalhousie. It lies on a small plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle. The hill station is surrounded by meadows and forests. It is about 2,000 metres (6,500 ft) above sea level in the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas.
Amritsar is the spiritual center for the Sikh religion in the state of Punjab. It is home to the Harmandir Sahib, also referred to as the "Golden Temple" as the spiritual and cultural center for the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal on week days alone. The city also houses the Sikh temporal and political authority, Akal Takht. Amritsar is situated 217 kilometres northwest of state capital Chandigarh and is very close to India's western border with Pakistan. The main commercial activities include tourism, carpets and fabrics, farm produce, handicrafts, and light engineering. The city is known for its rich cuisine and culture and also for the tragic incident of Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919.
