Arrive at Chennai pick up and transfer to hotel. After fresh up proceed to Swamimalai (290 Krns / 5 hrs). The sacred story associated with this temple is that Lord Karthikeya expounds the meaning of pranavam (AUM) to His father, Lord Shiva, at this location. Hence, one can see the Lord Karthikeya depicted as Guru (teacher) and Lord Shiva listening as shishya (disciple)in the raja gopuram of the temple complex.. Visit Swamimalai Temple Lord Karthikeya. Later proceed to Tanjore (40 Kms). Arrive at Tanjore and check into hotel.
Morning visit the famous BrihadeshwaraTemple (built by Chola Kings). Here you can see Giant Nandi carved in a single stone, which is considered to be the second largest in India. Later proceed to Tiruchendur (365 Kms/6 Hrs). Arrive at Tiruchendur and check into hotel. Evening visit Tiruchendur Sri Balasubramanya Swamy Temple. The seashore temple of Muruga Perumal at Tiruchendur is one of the delightful spots sanctified and venerated by every Hindu.
After break fast proceed to Palamudir Cholai (210 Kms/3.5 Hrs). This hill is also known as Vrishabhadri or Idabagiri. At the foot of the hill is situated Azhakar Kovil, which is one among the 108 divyadesams sanctified by the hymns of Azhwars sung in praise of the Vishnu enshrined in this temple. Atop the hill Lord Muruga stands majestically in the temple as the Lord of the Hills popularly known as Kurinji Nilakkizhavan in Tamil. Later proceed to Madurai (25 Kms). Arrive at Madurai and check into hotel. Evening visit Madurai Meenakshi & Sundareswarar Temple.
After break fast proceed to Tirupparankundram (10 Kms) Thiruparankundram is known for its ancient temple of Lord Murugan. Later proceed to Palani (130 Kms/2.5 Hrs). Arrive at Palani and check into hotel. Palani is home to one of the most sacred shrines of the God Subrahmanyan. The Thandayudhapani Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. The temple situated atop the Sivagiri.
After break fast proceed to Tiruvannamalai (350 Kms/5.5 Hrs). Arrive at Tiruvannamalai and check into hotel. Later visit Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple and Ramana Maharshi Ashramam.
After breakfast proceed to Tiruttani (150 Kms/2.5) Visit Lord Murugan Temple. Later proceed to Chennai (90 Kms) drop at Chennai airport / railway station for onward journey.

Madurai is the third largest city and is located on the banks of River Vaigai. It has been a major settlement for two millennia and is one of the oldest incessantly inhabited cities in the world. Guru Temple, also known as Lord Dakshinamurthy Temple is located at Alangudi. Lord Guru Bhagavan is referred to the planet Jupiter, and Alangudi is the "Guru Stalam" dedicated to the planet Jupiter. Thursday is considered an auspisious day for Lord Guru. The temple is known as the Arulmigu Abathsagayeswarar temple where the main deity is god of gods, Lord Shiva. There are also diety's of Lord Murugan with his consorts and Goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi. Legend has it that Alangudi is the place where Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison as emitted during the churning of Sea of milk.
There is an interesting legend behind the temple dedicated to Lord Chandra, which is also known as Thingalur Temple. Lord Chandra married twenty seven daughters of DakshaPrajapati, but was in love with only one, Rohini. Daksha tried to correct Chandra, but he refused to change, so he cursed Chandra to fade into oblivion in every month. In Hindu astrology, Chandra represents softness, sensitivity, emotions, imagination and removes sorrow, ruling the mind.
Naganathaswamy Temple or Rahu Temple is one of the 9 Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu, associated to Lord Rahu. Rahu Temple or Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is located at Tirunageswaram, which is 7 km east of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur. The main presiding deity of Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple is Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvathi. Rahu Bhagavan is seen with his two consorts. Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is one where Lord Shiva was worshipped by Rahu and got relived of a long lasting curse. A unique feature temple is that Lord Rahu is seen with human face while everywhere else Rahu is worshipped with a serpent face.
Tiruvannamalai, (also Thiruvannamalai or Trinomali and Trinomalee during British times) is a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town is administered by a special grade municipality that covers an area of 16.33 km2 (6.31 sq mi) and had a population of 144,278 in 2011. It is the administrative headquarters of Tiruvannamalai District. Roadways are the major mode of transport in Tiruvannamalai, while the town also has rail connectivity. Tiruvannamalai is named after the central deity of the Annamalaiyar Temple, Annamalaiyar.
