Itinerary

Day 1

Report at Safderjung railway station (Near Moti Bagh Flyover) by 4:00 PM for check-in formalities and traditional welcome. Will be escorted to respective saloons and train departs by 5:00 PM. Dinner served onboard at 8:00 PM.

Day 2

Morning 09:15 AM train arrives at Jodhpur railway station. After breakfast, board AC buses for drive up a meandering hill road to reach 16th century built Mehrangarh Fort, pride of Rathore Rajputs, with huge gateways and palace museum housing unique collection of medieval arms and elephant back palanquins. Also visit Royal Cenotaphs, located nearby, built in white marble in latter 19th Century. Also, visit Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the largest private residences in the world, part of which is now operating as a luxury spa resort. After lunch in a 5 -star hotel, return to the station by 3:30 PM to board the train and depart. Dinner served onboard.

Day 3

Train arrives at Udaipur Railway station by 7:00 AM. Post early breakfast, board AC buses by 8:30 AM to visit City Palace, built in flamboyant style by Sisodia Rajput clan over 16th and 17th century. Enjoy boat ride in Lake Pichola, famous for the ultra luxury Lake Palace Hotel, built atop a small island in the lake. After lunch in a 5-star hotel, return to the train by 2:15 PM and depart from Udaipur. On arrival at Chittaurgarh Railway station by 4:30 PM board AC buses for ride through narrow road to reach the Hill Fort of Chittor, spread over a massive plateau. Inhabited from 8th century to early 16th century, the ruins of this fort still bear testimony to the long and hard fought battles. In the evening, enjoy sound & light show in the fort premises to relive its romantic history. Return to the train by 8:00 PM and depart. Dinner served onboard.

Day 4

Early morning at 6:00 AM board 15 seater canter trailers from Sawai Madhopur railway station for 2.5 hrs safari to jungles of Ranthambore. Once the private hunting preserve of Jaipur Royalty, these forests are now protected under Project Tiger and now home to number of Tigers, Sloth bears, wild boar, different types of deer, pythons, owls, crocodiles besides other mammals, reptiles and birds. Return to train by 9:15 PM and depart. Breakfast served onboard. Train arrives at Jaipur Station by 11:30 AM. Board AC buses for excursion to late 16th century built Amber Fort, former capital of Jaipur royalty and popular among tourists for its elephant joy ride and Mirror Palace (Sheesh Mahal). After lunch in a boutique restaurant in the fort premise, drive back to 18th century built Pink City Palace complex with its amazing Sun Dial Observatory. Return to train for brief rest and change. Proceed by 7:30 AM for cultural program followed by dinner at a 5-star hotel. Return to train by 9:30 PM and depart.

Day 5

Train reaches Khajuraho railway station by 10:00 AM. The temples of Khajuraho were built over period of 200 years since mid 10th century and later lost to civilization for over 800 years, perhaps the only reason this display of erotica in stone sculpture survived the conservative Muslim rulers and invading hordes during medieval era. In morning visit the western group of temples and in afternoon visit southern group of temples. Lunch in 5-star hotel. Return to train by 5:00 PM and depart. Dinner served onboard

Day 6

Board AC buses, at 6:00 AM in morning, from Varanasi railway station to reach river banks, to experience boat ride in holy Ganges and view traditional bathing rituals of the Hindus. Return to the train by 9:00 AM for breakfast. By 10:00 AM, again board AC buses for excursion to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon more than 2500 years ago. Drive back to Varanasi 5-star hotel for lunch and return to train by 2:30 PM. After brief rest, proceed to visit local market in this ancient pilgrimage town, and again visit the Ghats of holy Ganges to view evening lamp immersion ceremony. Return to train by 8:00 PM and depart. Dinner served onboard.

On arrival of train at Agra Cant Railway Station by 10:00 AM, board AC buses for day long tour of Agra town. First visit the UNESCO World Heritage of Agra Fort, built of Red sandstone and seat of powerful Mughal dynasty for over 150 years. After lunch in 5-star hotel, visit one of seven wonders of modern world- The Taj Mahal, often referred as poetry in white marble. Time free for shopping. In evening enjoy sound and light show in the premises of 16th century built Agra Fort. Return by 8:00 PM for dinner onboard and depart.

Train arrives at Safderjung railway station early morning at 4:00 AM. Check-out starts after early breakfast by 7:00 AM. Bid farewell to your Saloon staff and Train Tour Manager.

    Agra Fort: Agra Fort is located, about 2.5 km north-west of the Taj Mahal. It served as the royal residence of Mughals for generations, the fort was the battle site during the Indian rebellion of 1857. The fort has a semicircular plan, its chord lies parallel to the river while its walls are seventy feet high. Double ramparts have massive circular bastions at intervals, with battlements, embrasures, and string courses.Four gates were provided on its four sides, one of them, Khizri gate opens to the river. The Delhi gate is not accessible to the public.

    Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan, located 335 kilometres (208 miles) west from the state capital, Jaipur and 200 kilometres from the city of Ajmer. It was formerly the seat of a princely state of the Jodhpur and the capital of the kingdom Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts, and temples. Jodhpur is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather and is also referred to as the "Blue City" due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city encircles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates although the city has expanded greatly outside the wall over the past several decades. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of Rajasthan, making it a convenient base for travel in the region.

Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency as Guhils clan ruled the Mewar. The city was founded by Maharana Uday Singh. Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, Udaipur is known for its palaces. The Lake Palace covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake and many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels.

    Chittorgarh, is a city that lies on the banks of the Berach River, a tributary of the Banas, and was the administrative headquarters of the former capital of the Sisodia clans of Rajputs of Mewar. Ruled by valiant clans, the fort of Chittor was under siege thrice and each time the clans fought bravely. In the same city, Jauhar was committed thrice, by ladies and children, first led by Rani Padmini, and later by Rani Karnavati. The famous warriors Gora and Badal, in the war against Allaudin Khilji, have become legendary in Rajasthan history. The sacrifice of Jaimal and Patta in the war against the Mughals (1568 AD) was so immense that the Mughal Emperor Akbar installed their statues in his fort, in Agra.

    The Khajuraho Group of Monuments in Khajuraho is located in Chhatarpur District, of Madhya Pradesh. The site is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples. The name Khajuraho, ancient "Kharjuravahaka", is derived from the Sanskrit words kharjura. These are one of the four sites related to Lord Shiv. In the 19th century, British engineer T.S. Burt discovered the site with the help of the locals. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, being one of the "seven wonders" of India.

The Benares Gharana form of the Indian classical music was developed in Varanasi with many prominent Indian philosophers, poets, writers, and musicians.
