Itinerary

Day 1
Bellary - Hampi

Pick up from Bellary Airport, Railway Station, Bus Stand and departure to Hospet (65 Kms / 2 Hrs). Upon arrival, check into the hotel. After fresh ups, proceed to visit Kishkindha near Hampi (20 Kms). The place is prominent as per the epic of Ramayana, where Lord Rama along with his brother Lakshmana approached Sugreeva at Kishkindha, seeking help to trace Sita. Here we will visit the famous Lord Hanuman temple on a hill top. Later visit Tungabhadra Dam. In the evening back to hotel.

After breakfast proceed to local sightseeing in and around Hampi covering the places: Virupaksha Swamy Temple, Museum, Vijaya Vittala Temple, Mahanavami Dibba, Narasimha Swamy Temple, Hazara Rama Temple, Royal Palace, Raghunath Temple etc.

Aihole - Pattadakal - Badami

After early breakfast, proceed to Aihole (140 Kms/ 13 Hrs) A peaceful village on the banks of the Malaprabha river, Aihole is acclaimed as the cradle of Hindu temple of architecture. Among hundreds of temples, the most impressive one is the Durga temple with its semicircular apse, elevated plinth and the gallery encircling the sanctum. Lord Shiva Temple, Kontigudi temples etc., then proceed to Pattadakal (15 Kms). With its beautifully chiseled temples, this World Heritage site lies on the banks of Malaprabha river and bears testimony to the richness of Chalukyan Architecture. Worth visiting are the 8th century temples of Jambu Linga, Kada Siddeshvara and Galaganatha with their curvilinear sikharas or spires. Later proceed to Badami (20 Kms) picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rock hills, the exquisite sculptures and the Red Sand stone cliffs of Badami tell many a tale of yore. Visit Cave temples, Badami Fort, Agastya lake and Tippu's Fort. Transfer to a hotel.

Badami - Bellary

After breakfast, check out the hotel and then depart back to Bellary (200 Kms / 4 Hrs) & transfer to Airport / Railway Station for return journey.

    The city of Hampi,situated on the banks of Tungabhadrariverin Karnataka,is an important historic and architectural site. It is located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of Vijayanagara Empire and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic settlements in Hampi date back to the 1st Century AD. Several excavations are still being carried out by the ASI in this region. Hampi has a number of notable Hindu temples which include the Virupaksha Temple, Hazara Rama Temple Complex, Krishna Temple Complex and the Vittala Temple Complex.

    Pattadakal also spelled Pa??adakallu is a World Heritage site, a village and an important tourist centre in the state of Karnataka and is located on the left bank of the Malaprabha River in Bagalkot district and is 22 km from Badami and 514 km from Bangalore. It is 22 km from Badami and about 10 km from Aihole, both of which are well known for Chalukya monuments. The Pre-Chalukya historical and Archaeological site Bachinagudda is also near Pattadakal.

It lies to the east of Pattadakal, along the Malaprabha River, while Badami is to the west of both.     Badami formerly known as Vatapi, is a town and headquarters of a taluk by the same name, in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. It was the regal capital of the Badami Chalukyas from 540 to 757 AD. It is famous for its rock cut structural temples. It is located in a ravine at the foot of a rugged, red sandstone outcrop that surrounds Agastya lake. Badami has been selected as one of the heritage cities for HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of Government of India.

    Bellary is a historic city in Ballari district in Karnataka state, India. It is 306 kilometres from Bangalore,the state capital.There are several legends explaining how Ballari got its name. The first is that a few devout travelling merchants halting in Ballari, could not find a Shiva Linga for their worship. They then installed a balla (a measuring cup or seru used to measure grain) upside down as a Shiva Linga and worshiped it. Eventually, that place was turned into a temple dedicated to Balleshwara or Shiva, which became distorted to Malleshwara', and thus Ballari derives its name from this temple.

    Hospet or Hosapete is a city in the Bellary District in central Karnataka, India. It is located on the Tungabhadra River, 12 km from Hampi. Hampi is a World Heritage site containing the ruins of the medieval city Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.Hospet was built in 1520 AD by Krishna Deva Raya, one of the rulers of Vijayanagara. He built the city to honour the memory of his mother Nagalambika. The city was originally named Nagalapura; however, people referred to the city as Hosa Pete, which meant "New City". The area between Hampi and Hospet is still called Nagalapura. This was the main entrance to the city of Vijayanagara for travellers coming from Goa and the west coast.
