Early morning wake up for spectacular sunrise tour & enjoy boat ride on Holy river Ganga. Post breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Mahapari Nirvana Temple-which houses the recumbent figure of Lord Buddha, Ramabhar Stupa-which marks Buddha's cremation ground. Drive to Lumbini (200 kms. / 03 hrs.). Upon arrival check into the hotel. After lunch, visit the sight of Birth place of Lord Buddha.

    Kushinagar

    Kushinagar is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Gautama Buddha is thought to have attained Parinirvana after his death. In ancient times, it was known as Kushavati and finds mention in epic Ramayan as the city of Kusha the son of Ram. Kushinagar was a celebrated center of the Malla kingdom of ancient India, later known as Kushinara, one of the most important holy sites for Buddhists. At this location, near the Hiranyavati River, Gautama Buddha attained final Nirvana after falling ill from eating a meal of a species of mushroom. Many of the ruined stupas and viharas here date back to 3rd to 5th century when prosperity was at its peak.

    Nalanda was an ancient center of higher learning in the Indian state of Bihar, about 88 kilometers south east of Patna. It was a Buddhist center of learning from the fifth or sixth century CE to 1197 CE. Nalanda flourished between the reign of Kumara Gupta I and as well as during time of Buddhist emperors like emperors from the Pala Empire. The complex was built with red bricks and at its peak, the university attracted scholars and students from as far away as Tibet, China, Greece, and Persia. Nalanda was destroyed by Turkic Muslim invaders under Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1193.

    Patna is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world as Ancient city, known as Pataliputra, was the capital of the Magadha Empire under the Haryanka, Nanda, Mauryan, Sunga, Gupta and Pala. Pataliputra was also a seat of learning and fine arts as its population during the Maurya period in 300 BCE was about 400,000. The modern city of Patna is situated on the southern bank of the Ganges, which also straddles the rivers Sone, Gandak and Punpun. The Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain pilgrim centres of Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodhgaya, and Pawapuri are nearby.

    Shravasti, the north-eastern town, located near the West Rapti River is closely associated with the life of Gautama Buddha. Buddha is believed to have spent 24 Chaturmases here. Age-old stupas, majestic viharas and several temples establish Buddha's association with Shravasti. It is being said that the Vedic Bharat period king Sravast founded this town, the capital of the Kosala Kingdom during 6th BC to 6th AD. This prosperous trading center was well known for its religious associations as Sobhanath temple is believed to be the birthplace of the Tirthankara Sambhavanath in Jainism.

    Vaishali derives its name from King Vishal of the Mahabharata age even before the advent of Buddhism and Jainism, Vaishali was the capital of the vibrant republican Licchavi state. Vaishali was an ancient metropolis and the capital city of the republic of the Vaishali state, covering most of the Himalayan Gangetic region of present-day Bihar. Very little is known about the early history of Vaishali, but the Vishnu Purana records 34 kings of Vaishali, the first being Nabhaga, who is believed to have abdicated his throne over a matter of human rights.

    Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex. It is famous for being the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment, also known as Bodhimandala. The place-name, Bodh Gaya, did not come into use until the 18th century CE as historically it was known as Uruvela, Sambodhi or Mahabodhi. The main monastery of Bodh Gaya used to be called the Bodhimanda-vihara, which is now called the Mahabodhi Temple. For Buddhists, Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main four pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha.

    Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi district of Nepal, the place where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama. Siddartha as the Buddha Gautama founded the Buddhist tradition. Between roughly 563 and 483 BCE, Lumbini was one of four magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha, the others being at Kushinagar, Bodh Gaya and Sarnath. Lumbini has a number of temples, including the Mayadevi temple, and also located here is the Puskarini where the Buddha's mother took the ritual dip prior to his birth.

It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the oldest in India. The Kashi Naresh is the chief cultural patron of Varanasi while the culture of Varanasi is closely associated with the river Ganges and its religious importance. The city has been a cultural and religious centre in North India for thousand years. The Benares Gharana form of the Indian classical music was developed in Varanasi with many prominent Indian philosophers, poets, writers, and musicians.
