He was holding some of the prestigious positions as Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Director, the Vysya Bank Ltd; Chairman, Shri Venkateswara College, New Delhi; Member, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh; Member, Central Board of Film Censors and Member, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Promotion Board.

02. Other Directors: Shri A Krishna Mohan (Managing Director) and Shri A.V. Praveen Kumar, Executive Director (Marketing) are Commerce Graduates from Delhi University. They obtained Masters Degree in Business Administration. They speak Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi. With their administrative experience for the last 15 years, the company is trying to give best services to the tourists and running the organization on professional lines.

03. We are Travel Agents & Tour Operators having corporate office at New Delhi. Our New Delhi office is located on the main Arya Samaj Road, Karol Bagh, New Delhi-5, 3 KMs from New Delhi Railway Station and 12-14 KMs from Domestic/International Airports. Nearby Market & shopping centers like Connaught Place and Karolbagh are located within 2 KMs distance.

HOTEL SOUTHERN, with 75 AC/non-AC Rooms, two restaurants – Kamat Southern & Chennai Amaravathi serving best South Indian Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Food and business center equipped with STD/ISD/FAX, Internet and Photo Copying machines is part of ours. Our Travel Office and business centers are located on the Ground Floor of our Building. We are authorized stock holders for tickets of Jet Airways, Air Sahara, Indian Airlines, Air Deccan and King Fisher with online computer reservation systems.

05. OUR OVERSEAS BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT: We are running an Indian Restaurant in Durban (South Africa) serving the best South and North Indian food for the last 8 years.

06. OUR OFFICES WITHIN INDIA are located at New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam. Our offices in Delhi are – Mayur Vihar, Karolbagh, and NOIDA.

07. Our own latest model VOLVO coaches and cars AC/Non-AC are available at all our branch offices. We have a total fleet of 30 coaches/cars of our own including latest model VOLVO coaches.

08. Running regular package tours with Food and Accommodation to different historical/ religious /hill station destinations in India is our specialty. Details of our regular package tours are given in a separate Brochure. These tours are economical for the budget class.

09. We are recognized by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi. We are members of Indian Association of Tour Operators, Federation of Hotels & Restaurants Association of India, All India Management Association and All India Motor Transport Congress. These are prestigious organizations representing the travel trade in India.

10. We are Authorised Tour Operators to conduct package tours to State/ Central Government employees and Central Government Undertakings.

11. Our notable clients are Canara Bank, Vijaya Bank, ING Vysya bank, LIC of India, Reserve Bank of India, Insurance Companies and employees of all Central Government Departments / Undertakings.

b Tours from North to South: We are making travel arrangements for tourists from Northern States to visit important tourist places in Southern India. This is done through a network of our offices and advertisements in prominent newspapers – Hindustan Times, Times of India, Navbharat Times and Punjab Kesari published from Delhi.

14. We are regularly receiving tourists from Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and South Africa. Thus, we are playing an important role in the development of Tourism and also earning foreign exchange to our country.

15. Our regular tours in Andhra Pradesh: We are providing transport, accommodation and Guide services for thousands of tourists coming to Andhra Pradesh. Running daily package tours from Chennai to Tirupati; City sight seeing tours in Hyderabad and tours to Ramoji Film City.

16. Southern Super Market having branches at New Delhi and NOIDA is an associate of ours. This is the first Super Market in Delhi and nearby places selling various consumer items coming from Southern States. It is registered with Director General Foreign Trade, New Delhi and exporting rice, pulses and other items to various countries directly.

17. Marching Ahead: With an annual turnover of over 100 millions, we are helping our country’s economic development by bringing in more tourists from other countries to India.

18. Diversification to production sector:- We are entering into production of paper, Bio-Diesel and Ethanol. Recently we registered two companies – KONASEEMA PAPER MILLS PVT LTD & BIO DIESEL REFINERIES PVT LTD. Our paper mills at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh will be coming up shortly.

We are pioneers in the travel business for the last 34 years. PRESS NOTE
The founder of Southern Travels Pvt. Ltd is Shri A. Venkateswara Rao. He hails from a middle-class family in a remote village, Prasangulapad near Ongole, Prakasm District in Andhra Pradesh. He used to walk 15Kms a day to go from village to school and back as there was no proper travel facilities. With a determination to become an IAS Officer he studied and achieved 1st Class in M.A. Economics. He came to Delhi to write IAS examinations. He worked with National Council of Applied Economics Research, New Delhi ( NCAER) and the Union Ministry of Commerce, New Delhi.

After taking VRS, Travel Services was started for getting the train tickets and arranging Tourist buses for the customers to nearby Agra, Hardwar, etc. way back in 1971. These services attracted the middle-class employees. The volume of business started growing.

Thousands of tourists were coming from Southern States to New Delhi to visit various places. There was no proper guidance for them. Then came an idea of starting a Hotel. The first building of the present Hotel was purchased in 1978 and 50 Buses and Cars of our own.

As the business is in the right direction, Bankers came forward to help us by giving loans for construction of rooms and purchase of tourist buses and cars. Now we have 90 Rooms Complex "Hotel Southern" at Karol Bagh, New Delhi.

We employed young boys from Southern States knowing Telugu, Tamil Kannada and Malayalam at the respective travel counters. This was an added attraction. We also started serving the best South Indian food. Thus the organisation started attracting more tourists.

Shri A. Krishna Mohan, our Managing Director and Shri A.V. Praveen Kumar, our Executive Director both sons of Shri A. V. Rao are Commerce Graduates from Delhi University and have done MBA from University of Madras. Thereafter, they joined in the business. They speak different South Indian languages.

The reasons for our success:-
Our aim is to extend best services at reasonable rates. This attracted middle-class Tourists who are in majority. Apart from business, customer service is very important. We take special care of the customers. On account of giving best services our company has become popular. Today we came upto to the level of getting the National Tourism Award from Ministry of Tourism, Government of India as the BEST DOMESTIC TOUR OPERATOR in the country. The Award was presented to us at a function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 27-02-08. Any orgnaisation which pays personal attention and take care of the customers will grow automatically. This is our main experience.

Our future plans : As the hospitality industry is growing, there is a tremendous demand for hotels and restaurants in all major cities. We are in the process of constructing 3 Star Hotels before Commonwealth Games in Delhi and Nagpur.

Merit Scholarships : We are giving honorarium to the merit students every year irrespective of caste / economic status in Delhi and in Andhra Pradesh.

Institute of Tourism & Travel Management : We are planning to start an Institute shortly to train technical manpower for the hospitality industry.

We are running 24 hours JET Airways Reservation counter at our New Delhi office-Hotel Southern complex. We offer concession on flight tickets. One ticket will be free for every 15 tickets. Please contact any our branch offices for advance reservations.

1. PLEASE purchase entrance tickets from the monuments directly. Free entrance for children below 5 years. Free for all on all Fridays. Tourists will carry their luggage in our buses at their own risk and responsibility.

2. Kindly adhere to the time schedule announced by our Guide / Driver at every point to ensure covering of all places. If you happen to miss the bus, you will have to make your own arrangements to reach the next place.

3. CHILDREN below five years will not be charged and will not be provided with seats. Children above the age of five years will be charged full tickets.

4. L.F.C/LTC Southern Travels Pvt. Ltd. is recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt.of India. All Banks and Corporate offices, including Life Insurance Corporation of India, approve our receipts for LFC. We are running LTC tours in collaboration with ITDC / Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd.

5. No compensation will be available if any person does not take food during the journey (where the fare is inclusive of food).

6. No food will be supplied at Kedarnath & Yamunotri, as the catering unit cannot reach there. You have to take food in the hotel at your own cost, at these two places. Transport by pony (horse) and other incidentals from Gaurikund to Kedarnath/Hanuman Chetti to Yamunotri and back are at your cost, which are not included in the tariff, and to be borne by you separately.

7. Dormitory accommodation without bed is provided as a complimentary (No refund will be made if not used) at all places in all our tours wherever night halt is involved, except at Delhi.

8. Tourists are at liberty to make purchases from anywhere they like. The company does not take any responsibility for their purchases nor do we recommend any particular shop.

9. A.C / Non A.C TOURIST BUSES/VANS/TATA SUMO/CARS are available on contract for groups of 7,12,18,27,35 & 50 capacity.

10. Check out time at Jaipur, Simla and other places is 12 noon. We are making arrangements for rooms from 12 noon only. If bus reaches before 12 noon at the above places, only fresh up arrangements are made while rooms are allotted from 12 noon.

11. Buses going to Chardham and Badrinath-Kedarnath are returning back to Delhi at 3-5 AM. Avail free dormitory accommodation up to 8AM, if you so desire.

12. To hill stations like Mussoorie, Nainital and pilgrim centres like Badrinath-Kedarnath & Gangotri-Yamunotri, only smaller buses are allowed to ply on this hilly region. We are operating 18, 27 seater coaches to these places. Seats of last row (nos.23 to 27) of those coaches are non-pushback on account of restrictions for hill fitness of smaller vehicles.

13. No refunds will be entertained in case of missed sight seeing tours.

14. Local conveyance charges to monuments at all stations from our last bus stop point will be borne by the tourists.
