WESTERN HAJAR MOUNTAINS

DAY 01: MUSCAT – NAKHAL – WESTERN HAJAR MOUNTAIN RANGE

Morning, you will be met at the hotel . The tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. Morning we will drive to Nakhl, which has a 350 years old magnificent fort and is dramatically located at the top of rock mountain cliff. The area is surrounded with dates plantations. The narrow road through the town winds up to the Hot Springs, which is a popular picnic, spot. After spending some time at Nakhl we will continue to Wadi Bani Awf. The road runs through a narrow canyon with steep-sided cliffs. From Wadi Bani Awf, start trek for approximately 3 Hrs to the remote mountain village, Bilat sait, the clients will have opportunity to walk through the villages to understand the lifestyle. [Trekking grade: Mix of 01 & 02}

Then board the 04WD and proceed for Sharaf Al amen for Dinner & over night camping. {Over night stay will be in Igloo tents}. Picnic lunch will be served at convenient place.

 

DAY 02: SHARF AL AMMEM – NIZWA

Morning trekking though the western Hajar Mountains {Walk will be approximate 3 Hrs. {Trekking grade: Mix of 01 & 02} Then board 04Wd and proceed to Misfah Al Bryeen. Misfah is one of the pretty and old villages in Oman. Here we will have approximately 02 Hrs walk through the terrace plantations and village. Check in to a traditional Omani house. Dinner and overnight at Omani House.

 

DAY 03: NIZWA - JABELAKDHAR

Morning start the tour with visit of Al Hoota caves, one of the largest natural caves in world. There after you will drive to visit Bahla, the mystical village, known for its famous for Arabian potteries. Visit one of the pottery making units. Later drive onwards to visit Jabreen castle, built in 17th century with magnificent plasterwork, wooden carvings, painted ceiling makes this castle amazingly different. Later visit the Nizwa souq and the famous Round tower fort of Nizwa. Thereafter drive Jabel akdher or overnight camping at Jabel Akdar Mountains. Dinner and over night at wild camping

 

DAY 04: JABEL AKDHAR- NIZWA

In Arabic Jabel akdhar means green mountains. It is famous for its gardens and farms. Visit Wadi habib to see one of the remote villages and fruit plantations. Also visit one of the private terrace rose plantations. (Jan – Feb is the season). Morning, trekking to the villages of Wadi Bani Habib, Al Ayn etc to see the plantation and remote mountain village. {Today we will have approximate 03 – 04 Hrs walk. Trekking grade 01} Thereafter drive back to Muscat via Birkat Al Mauz.
