CULTURAL TOUR OF OMAN 4WD
DAY 01: MUSCAT – NIZWA
Today you will drive to visit the historic town of Nizwa, Oman’s cultural capital You proceed to Jabrincastle built in 17th century is one of the finest of its kind. Its magnificent plasterwork, the carved doors and the painted wooden beams of the ceilings makes this castle amazingly different. Thereaftercontinue to Bahla, one of the oldest small towns of Oman and in the 12th century the capital of thetribe living in the region. As the monumental fort is closed for renovation only a photo stop is planned.Bahla is also famous for its pottery and you will visit a potter’s workshop (not possible on Fridays and Public Holidays).Later proceed to Visit Al Hoota cave, one of the largest natural caves in Oman. Later visit. Al Hamra one of the oldest villages & up to 400 years old mud houses are still occupied. Also visit the Al Hamra Falaj system. Return back to Nizwa. Over night at Hotel
DAY 02: NIZWA – WAHIBA – SUR
Morning visit the powerful Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman and the traditional Souq. Later drive to Wahiba sands, via Birkat A Mauz and Ibra.Wahiba sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand. The ever-changing patterns ofthe dunes are a photographer’s delight. After some exciting sand dune driving which offers excellentthrills and chills for all. Drive to Wadi Bani Khalid – an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and drymountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman and its pools with clear deep blue water giveyou an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. Enjoy the ambiance of the Wadi. On arrival at Sur checkin at Hotel and after an early dinner (own arrangements) drive to visit the turtle sanctuary at Ras AlJinz, where at night the Green Turtles, after a journey of thousands of kilometers will come ashore tolay their eggs. You then return to Hotel at late night for the overnight.
DAY 03: SUR -MUSCAT.
Morning you visit Sur, renowned for its dhow shipyard in former times. There after you start your fascinating coastal trip to Muscat. The road leads through scenic countryside and rugged mountains to the small fishing towns. On the coastal road you stop at Bibi Miriam Mausoleum in Qalhat. Later you visit Wadi Tiwi, an oasis well known for its lemon and date plantations and then proceed to Finsbeach. Picnic lunch will be served en route. Later drive to Muscat enroute Stop at limestone Sinkholein Bimah and Wadi Arbaeen.
