WINE AND GASTRONOMY
Day 1: Paris
Arrival at the airport. Meet local guide/assistance and transfer to the city centre. Enjoy a get-acquainted tour of Paris Pont Neuf (Paris’ oldest bridge), the Palais Royal, the Champs de Mars and the Ivalides, through to the Bastille and the Conciergerie (Marie-Antoinette’s prison) .View the modern part of the city from the Square of the Opera along the elegant Rue de la Paix to the famous Champs-Elysées . Evening dinner-cruise on the river Seine: another way to discover Paris’ illuminated highlights. Return and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Paris / Dijon
Drive South to Burgundy to Dijon via Chablis. Stop to visit a wine cellar and taste this wine made from a unique and specific wine: the Chardonnay. Continue to Dijon, former ducal capital and now capital of Burgundy. Walking tour of the city upon arrival: see Philippe Le Bon’s tower, visit and the historical centre which stretches around the Ducal Palace .Return and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Dijon
Full day guided excursion dedicated to the wine. Drive to Beaune: gold and ruby are the characteristic shimmering colours at the great wines of Burgundy of which Beaune is the undisputed capital. Visit of the wine market, see the vaulted cellars stretching out beneath the streets of a town set like a jewel in the ring of its medieval ramparts .Return to Dijon with a stop en route of the famous wine route for a tasting of 4 wines at Chateau de Gilly . Return to Dijon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Dijon/Lyon
Departure to Lyon with a stop en route in Romanèche-Thorins. Visit of the Hameau du Beaujolais, followed by a tasting · Continue to Lyon: former capital of the Three Gauls, guided tour of the city upon arrival, drive through the Place Bellecour, the Canuts district and up the hill of Fourvière. Transfer to the hotel for the overnight.
Day 5: Lyon
Morning guided excursion to Pérouges,medieval village perched on a hill, village of the craftsmen founded by a Gallic colony returning from Perogia in Italy. Return to Lyon. Leisure time, transfer to Paul Bocuse’ s restaurant for . dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Lyon/Clermont-Ferrand
Mid-morning departure to Clermont-Ferrand, a city between the mountains. Time at leisure to discover the city .Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Clermont-Ferrand/Montignac
Departure to the village of Saint-Nectaire, the first roman spa establishment also known for its delicious cheese .Visit of a cheese factory followed by cheese tasting. Continue to Montignac via Brive la Gaillarde. Dinner and overnight in a chateau hotel.
Day 8: Montignac
Morning visit of Lascaux caves showing paintings of the Palaeolithic era. Excursion to Sarlat and its surroundings: discovering of Sarlat la Caneda, city of art and history housing an invaluable architectural heritage Continue to the pittoresque villages of Beynac et Cazenac, la Roque-Gageac
Return to Montignac. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: Montignac/Bordeaux
Departure to Bordeaux via Bergerac and Monbazillac. Stop for a visit of the castle, a unique and original blend of medieval defensive fortifications and Renaissance exuberance; also enjoy a tasting of the white wine of the Domain of Monbazillac with Foie Gras toasts. Upon arrival, guided orientation tour of Bordeaux, the wine city boasting 3 UNESCO world heritage monuments. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Bordeaux
Full day dedicated to the visit of one of the most reputed Bordeaux vineyards: the Medoc, which produces an infinite palette of wines thanks to the variety of privileged climate · Visit of a wine producer domain followed by a wine tasting. Lunch in a typical restaurant. After lunch, drive south to Margaux, where the “most feminine” wines, delicate and fruity, are produced. Return to Bordeaux
· Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Bordeaux/Paris
Long day drive to Paris via Poitiers. Check-in at the hotel and time for rest. Evening round trip transfer to the first class restaurant La Tour d ’Argent for a farewell dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12: Departure
